Each year, we host a fun run, "Destiny Runs". The run's namesake is a vibrant grey quarter horse that continues to inspire us!
When she was born, she suffered from severe malnutrition, had crooked legs, parrot mouth, inguinal hernia, pneumonia and strangles. Needless to say, the vet recommended putting her down. Connections rescued Destiny and she has been raised by our riders and volunteers. She was about a year old before she started running around.
Destiny was raised by Connections riders. The kids took time before and after their therapy session to groom and care for Destiny.
Destiny learned to walk and was halter broke by a 3 year old in a wheelchair, leading Destiny around.
Destiny has taken well to her new job! She is used in therapy sessions with our autistic and sensory riders. She can be seen working hard during our Saturday sessions.
Today, at the age of 3, she can be seen galloping freely in our back pasture as well as working hard with our autistic and sensory riders. Destiny, like our other rescues, is the key to our therapy and our riders' improvements.
