Over the past several years Connections Therapeutic Riding Center has poured its heart and focus into children with ASD through the use of horses and skilled trainers, therapists, and instructors. This has been and continues to be a wonderful opportunity for the organization and those involved. The impact that horses can have on the life of a child with ASD is astounding. There is immense research on this topic of hippotherapy and how it helps ASD children, but the real proof and reward comes with the display of growth in a child.
A hurdle that our organization has found is the lack of awareness in the effects of horse therapy. In light of this CTRC is launching a new effort toward the education of the general public on this topic. Our efforts put toward the children in the program will not be dissolved or hindered in any way and that will remain our primary mission. What that means is that we need more help than ever in the form of people, prayer, and funds. Our current resources are about 95% used for the current program and that can't change and in fact it will grow as the organization grows.
At this point we don't have a "wish list" or specific roles that will need to be filled. All we need at this point is interest from the community in our efforts. If you would like to be involved in our educational efforts, please contact us.
