We have found that structure and consistency, and early intervention provides an excellent setting for integration. Using a combination of Equine Assisted Therapy and Educational Kinesiology, we affect both the vestibular and neurological systems. Our goal is for riders to attain an entirely new orientation through their experience of focus, increased verbalization, skills development, and increased sensory integration and tolerance. Improving self-awareness and self-esteem is hard work. Often, all that is required is the right setting, safety, and an encouraging environment in which individuals can peacefully and quietly process all of their hard work.
At Connections, we provide the location, time and space clients need to sort through the challenges and issues at hand.
Our instructors work in one-hour sessions with riders, assisted by one of our talented therapy horses. Riders work toward the goals of sensory integration, balance, control, and attainment of self-mastery. Personal achievement, in a non-judgmental or stigmatizing environment, is offered to all participants at Connections. Lesson plans are formatted for each rider, constructing attainable goals and specially designed activities.
Our format includes focus on an educational program that aims to enhance the brain function and develop full brain potential through integrated exercises for the mind and body. Our method combines breathing techniques, brain exercises and fun developmental activities, which reduces stress while enlivening total brain functioning. As a result, riders experience improved balance, coordination, motor control, memory and focus.
