You Can Help There is always plenty of work to do to keep horses groomed, fed, exercised, and trained for the job that is required of them. The children also have their "therapy" cut out for them as each have their individualized program to meet their needs. Volunteers can lead children through their "exercises" to prepare them to ride as well as to "cool" them down after a ride. Some are able to saddle and groom their horses. Supervision is necessary for these tasks to be accomplished. Side walking the horse while therapeutic riding is taking place is needed. Tack - Children learn to take care of their tack. Volunteers will supervise these children as well as take care of the tack of the children who are not able. Barn - Some barn work is necessary if each has to clean up after his/her own horse. Only experienced horsepersons will be considered to assist in training the horses. |
